(Do not travel with jewelry, they are totally unnecessary in the wild). Recommendations for the traveler, what to bring and what to leave at home: It is a good idea to bring: • Toilet paper. • Protective case for the camera. • Hat or Cap. • Light clothes (short and flannel). • 2 pairs of sport shoes. • Towel. • Solar protector. • Raincoat. • Repellent against mosquito. • Lamp. • Limited amount of luggage. • Any medicine recommended by your doctor. • Woman should bring their favorite brands of any product made for females, since national brands might not be available, specially in the tropical rain forest... It is best not to bring: • Jewelry. • Any watch that costs over 50$. • A lot of paper money (cash), specially if they are dollars. • We have not had any problems before with valuables thanks to our precautions. Our recommendations and facts: Be aware that the Angel Fall might be cloudy and if so it might not be possible to see it. The water of the river that falls in the Angel Falls is there thanks to the clouds. The best thing is to leave in the morning, to stop on the way, take a bath in the "Poso de la Felicidad" and enjoy the beaches of "Isla Raton". In the morning on you way to Angel Falls, remember to enjoy a swim below the fall it is delicious and a little cold, but you will return with a nice feeling. Those two times that I have enjoyed Canaima I have been staying with the Truffino sisters, owners of the Ucaima Camp. They not only have the magic privilege of possessing a camp exactly in front of the fall but provides the best atmosphere as well. Rudy, built the camp in 1956. They have rooms for only 10 people with simple but comfortable beds, and private bathrooms. Avior offers flights from Port Ordaz to Canaima that depart at 8:00 A.M.
